About Me

I love agriculture! I love everything about livestock production from breeding and feeding to harvesting and eating!  My passion in life is educating others about agricultural production practices and the safety of the food that America's farmers provide you each and every day!

I was born on a small farm in south Mississippi where my family currently raises commercial beef cattle and produces row crops and vegetables.  We also produce freezer beef and pork that we feed out there at our farm.

Our family prides our-self in educating others about where their food comes from.  We have an open-gate policy where each of our customers are always welcome to the farm to see what's growing and what is going on that day.

I grew up in Agricultural Education as my father was a High School Agriculture teacher and later became an Extension agent for Mississippi State University.  Showing hogs, cattle, and goats was a major part of my up bringing.  My parents used this as a teaching tool for my sister and I to learn about responsibility, hard work, life, and loss.  Some of my greatest memories as a kid don't come from times spent with friends, but rather time spent with my parents and sister at cattle shows or at the barn.

This upbringing totally shaped where I am today and my career goals. I am proud to call myself a Mississippi State University alumnus!  I graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences.  My desire to educate others about agriculture brought me to my current position as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Agricultural and Extension Education.  I plan to graduate with my Master of Science degree in August 2012!

I don't know exactly where life will take me after that, but I've got some plans in the works, until then I'll be working on my thesis and bringing you guys informative and applicable information about agriculture and beef production.
